actually, i frogot the most important and key point in this rant

i remember when pof was still to be released, anet already said that some pof maps were designed with certain mounts in mind. Some map exploration points were supposed to be unobtainable without this one specific mount, for example that one mastery point that is surrounded by quicksand so you need skimmer to get there. Now? just use skyscale.

you're lost in kaineng? you could use the ziplines to get to higher/lower levels- or just use skyscale.

dont get me wrong. i do use skyscale. i like skyscale. i just think that it took away a lot of fun from gw2's initial mount/map compatibility and design.

maybe it’s bc we do different activities, but i actually feel like i see raptors the most. definitely if i was doing like a post-game meta, i would expect to see mostly sky scales. i always figured it was people trying to flex that they did the collection because it was a kind of ultimate achievement for a while (tedious tbh lol but i still liked it), as well as having so many unique skins.

i could totally see there being a significant change with the nature of the new expansion, but i usually see a fair amount of other mounts used in the game. like i will join a squad to do an event and they will say they will be using x,y,z mounts to rush through the steps. and when me and my friends are leveling newbies together on pve maps, we use the turtle all the time to stay in the same spot while one-shotting otherwise tedious event mobs. (also we are drift compatible). i think the rarest is skimmer, which sucks bc it’s so cool and also has that awesome additional mastery/quest you can do.

plus i’ve always found the mechanics for piloting the sky scale to be sooo annoying tbh, i usually try to use any other mount if i can. when i do use it, i usually end up hopping on to try and get a gyroscopic view of an area when i’m looking for something, or need to be afk somewhere safe in the sky. i’m optimistic perhaps in hoping, but i think it would be awesome for them to expand on the other mounts in the same way they have planned for the skyscales. they put a lot of heart into the designs and abilities, that i know it could be great.

Your experience is sooo valid and im so happy to hear about it and I genuinely hope there are more people with similar experiences. Man, I’m jealous, haha /lighthearted

But tbh this is the first time im hearing about people flexing about having skyscale, hahah, I mostly hear “what do you mean you played through lws4 when it came out and still dont have a skyscale? Timegate exists, sure, but come on”

But hey, handshake on enjoying that collection. To be honest sometimes I wish we could replay some collections just for enjoyment purposes because the stories behind them are so cool and raising a baby skyscale is one of them!
